Chest-to-Ground Push-Up Records - Most Push-Ups in One Hour

How many can chest-to-ground push-ups can you do?

The push-up is a test of upper body strength, and is commonly used in extreme tests of endurance. It is common to use the number of push-ups someone can do as an assessment of their fitness. Here are results of record attempts for push ups using the technique of lowering the chest fully to the ground. The standard technique only requires the chest to lower so that the elbows are at right angles.

Correct Technique

The assessors at the Guinness World Record requires that record setters perform the push-up with a specific technique. For the chest-to-ground push up, the starting position is with the chest in contact with the ground, arms shoulder width apart. The torso is then lifted off the ground by performing a push up, with the body raised until the arms are straight, although the elbows do not need to be locked, before returning to the start position. The chest must make clear contact with the ground for each push up to count. Participants must also keep the body straight throughout (i.e. no bending at the knees or waist). Rest periods are allowed.
