Push-Up Records

How many can push-ups can you do?

The push-up is upper body training exercise and a test of upper body strength endurance. It is common to use the number of push-ups someone can do as an assessment of their fitness (see push-up tests).

A common fitness test is to determine the maximum number of push-ups someone can do in one minute. People have also tried to do as many as they can in other time periods, such as an hour or a day.

Here are some of these push-up records.

Timed Push-Up Records

Correct Technique

The Guinness World Record requires that the participant perform the push-up with a specific technique, which is essentially what we describe as a standard push-up. They must keep the body straight throughout, (i.e. no bending at the knees or waist), the body must be lowered until at least a 90-degree angle is attained at the elbows. The body is then raised until the arms are straight, although they do not need to be locked at the elbows.
