Push-Up Record - Most Push-Ups in 30 seconds
How many can push-ups can you do?
The push-up is a test of upper body strength, and is commonly used in extreme tests of endurance. It is common to use the number of push-ups someone can do as an assessment of their fitness.

A common fitness test is to determine the maximum number of push-ups someone can do in one minute, though sometimes the test is conducted over 30 seconds.
YouTube personality Stan Browney made headlines in 2020 when he claimed a record by completing 53 push-ups in just 30 seconds. On the surface, this sounds impressive, yet when you compare it to other claims of athletes managing well over 150 push-ups within a single minute, it does raise some questions about whether 53 should truly be considered a world record. In fact, when reviewing video footage of various high-speed push-up attempts, it appears that reaching around 50 push-ups in half a minute, while still maintaining decent form, is close to the upper limit of what most people can realistically achieve.
For comparison, Swiss athlete Roman Dossenbach demonstrated a remarkable performance back in 2007, when he completed 101 push-ups in 60 seconds on his knuckles. Notably, by the halfway point at 30 seconds, he had already reached 54 push-ups, which is slightly better than Browney’s effort in 2020.
Correct Technique
The assessors at the Guinness World Record requires that record setters perform the push-up with a specific technique, which is essentially what we describe as a standard push-up. Participants must keep the body straight throughout (i.e. no bending at the knees or waist), and the body must be lowered until at least a 90-degree angle is attained at the elbows. The body is then raised until the arms are straight, although the elbows do not need to be locked.
