Incline Push-Up
The Incline Push-Up is one of the many variations of the standard push-up procedure. In this exercise, the hands are placed on an elevated platform so the body is inclined. This technique is an easier version of the push-up for those with poor upper body strength. This exercise is sometimes called the table push-up or chair push-up when that piece of equipment is used. The wall push-up is a similar exercise.
Exercise Description
Equipment Required
A table , chair, fence, low wall or similar.
Starting Position
Place your hands on the object, about shoulder width apart, and take a few steps back so that your weight is supported on the hands, the body at an incline. The body should be kept straight.
Movement
Bend the arms and bring the body towards the object, until your elbows are at right angles. Then push back until the arms are stright again.
The Workout
Repeat this action as many times as required. See Push-Up Workouts for example training programs.
Variations
You can make this exercise harder by moving the feet further away from the wall, or moving the hands closer together.
